I-80 plants, the Arsenal and the 2019 flood in Davenport

Serving Scott County

Davenport’s newest plants line I-80. The Eastern Iowa Industrial Center sits right on the interstate and grew to about 346 acres when it was recertified in 2021. Kraft Heinz built a 382,000-square-foot meat processing plant there on 70 acres. Sterilite built a 2.5-million-square-foot plant on 160 acres. Plants that size mean trucks in and out all day, plus yard tractors and backup generators.

In the river sits Rock Island Arsenal, a 946-acre island between Davenport and Rock Island, Illinois. It is the largest government-owned weapons manufacturing arsenal in the country. Contractors and support fleets serving it add steady diesel demand on both banks.

The 2019 flood

Davenport is the largest city on the Mississippi without permanent flood control. On April 30, 2019, a temporary HESCO barrier gave way and the river poured into downtown. The Mississippi crested at 22.7 feet, beating the record set in the Great Flood of 1993. About 15 blocks flooded, and some downtown businesses never reopened. When the river rises here, fuel for pumps and generators is part of the flood fight.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Davenport site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.
