737 fuselages, KC-46 tankers and Plains cold in Wichita

Serving Sedgwick County

Wichita builds airplanes. Boeing closed its acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems in December 2025, and with it the Wichita plant that builds fuselages for the 737. About 15,000 Spirit employees across five sites, Wichita among them, joined Boeing in the deal. Suppliers, trucking fleets and contractors around a plant that size need diesel and DEF on schedule.

McConnell Air Force Base was picked in 2014 as the first main operating base for the KC-46A Pegasus tanker. The first one arrived in January 2019. Its host 22nd Air Refueling Wing flies both KC-46s and KC-135s. Contractors built three new KC-46 maintenance hangars and other facilities for the tanker’s arrival. Contractor equipment and support fleets add steady demand.

February 2021

From February 6 to 18, 2021, an arctic air mass sat over the Plains. Wichita stayed below freezing for 12 straight days, the longest stretch since 1983, and had three straight nights below zero. The regional grid ran short, and Evergy cut power to blocks of Kansas customers in rolling outages. Generators had to carry the load in the worst possible weather for diesel. Winter blend and a full tank are the plan here.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Wichita site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.

Wichita fuel delivery questions, answered

Do you fuel aerospace plants and suppliers in Wichita?
Yes. We fill plant tanks with bulk loads, fuel yard trucks and forklifts on site, and keep standby generators topped off, from 20 to 4,400 gallons per drop or transport loads up to 7,500 gallons.
Can you keep our generator running if the grid goes into emergency again?
Yes. We schedule generator top-offs before winter and run 24/7/365 dispatch. In February 2021, Evergy cut power to blocks of Kansas customers in rolling outages when the regional grid ran short, so a full tank going into a deep freeze matters.
Do you deliver fuel 24/7 in Wichita?
Yes. FuelGo dispatch runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call 800-720-4546 any time, or request a quote online and a dispatcher replies within the hour.
What fuels can you deliver in Wichita?
Clear on-road diesel (ULSD #2), red-dyed off-road diesel, gasoline, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and R99 renewable diesel. Most customers combine two or more on the same delivery.
Do you deliver diesel to generators in Wichita?

How much fuel can you deliver at once?
Tank wagon deliveries run from 20 to 4,400 gallons per drop, and full transport loads to 7,500 gallons or more for large bulk tanks. Tell us your tank size and usage and we’ll recommend the right format.
How much is diesel tax in Kansas?
On-road (clear) diesel in Kansas carries $0.5186 per gallon in combined federal and state taxes and fees, and off-road (dyed) diesel $0.0156 per gallon, as of October 16, 2026. Sales and local taxes are extra where they apply. Using dyed diesel on public roads is illegal. See diesel taxes by state →
Do you offer emergency fuel delivery in Wichita?
Yes. If a generator is running low or a site is about to run dry, call 800-720-4546 and a dispatcher will confirm what we can get to you and when.
Can you set up recurring scheduled deliveries?
Yes. Most customers start with a one-time delivery and move to a recurring schedule, so tanks, generators and fleets are topped up before they run low, without anyone having to call it in.
Do you rent fuel tanks?
Yes. We rent diesel and gasoline tanks from 119 to 17,000 gallons, with pumps, meters and hose fitted, and refills on a schedule. See our fuel tank rental page for sizes.
Do you have smaller trucks for tight sites?
Yes. Smaller delivery trucks reach tight urban sites, parking structures and jobsites where a full-size tanker can’t fit.
What payment options do you accept?
Credit cards, ACH and checks. Credit terms are available for qualifying commercial accounts. Ask your dispatcher for details.
