Barge terminals, a new federal campus and river extremes

Serving City of St. Louis

St. Louis moves freight on the river. The Port of Metropolitan St. Louis runs 70 miles along both banks of the Mississippi. Its 15 barge-transfer facilities can handle 150 barges a day, the most capacity anywhere on the river. The regional port system ranks second among U.S. inland ports. Cranes, loaders and yard trucks at those terminals run on diesel.

North St. Louis has a new anchor. The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency opened its $1.75 billion NGA West campus on 97 acres in the St. Louis Place neighborhood in September 2025. About 3,100 employees are moving in from Soulard.

A river that runs high and low

The Mississippi sets the risk here in both directions. On August 1, 1993, it crested at 49.58 feet at St. Louis, the highest stage ever recorded. In fall 2022 it ran so low that barge companies capped tows south of St. Louis at 25 barges, down from 30 to 40. High water closes roads and riverfront sites. Low water slows the barges that feed the terminals. Either way, the fuel already in your tank is what keeps you working.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your St. Louis site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.

St. Louis fuel delivery questions, answered

Do you fuel barge terminals and riverfront operations in St. Louis?
Yes. We deliver diesel and DEF to terminal equipment, yard trucks and site tanks along the riverfront. Terminals have their own gate and safety rules, so give dispatch your access requirements when you order.
How does the river level affect fuel planning in St. Louis?
Both ways. In 1993 the Mississippi crested at a record 49.58 feet at St. Louis, and floodwater cuts off roads and riverfront sites. In fall 2022 the river ran so low that barge companies capped tows south of St. Louis at 25 barges. Low water slows river freight, and high water slows trucks. Keep site tanks full when the forecast turns either way.
Can you deliver to contractors and facilities on the north side?
Yes. Job sites usually need off-road diesel for equipment and a fuel tank rental for storage. Facilities with standby generators can set up scheduled top-offs.
Do you deliver fuel 24/7 in St. Louis?
Yes. FuelGo dispatch runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call 800-720-4546 any time, or request a quote online and a dispatcher replies within the hour.
What fuels can you deliver in St. Louis?
Clear on-road diesel (ULSD #2), red-dyed off-road diesel, gasoline, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and R99 renewable diesel. Most customers combine two or more on the same delivery.
Do you deliver diesel to generators in St. Louis?
Yes. Dyed diesel for standby and prime generators, on a refill schedule or as an emergency run during an outage. Generator fueling →
Do you offer mobile fleet fueling in St. Louis?
Yes. We wet-hose trucks and equipment in your yard, usually overnight, and log every gallon by unit. Mobile fleet fueling →
Can you deliver bulk diesel to our tanks in St. Louis?
Yes. Anything from 20 gallons to a 7,500-gallon transport load, into above-ground, underground or portable tanks. Bulk delivery →
How much fuel can you deliver at once?
Tank wagon deliveries run from 20 to 4,400 gallons per drop, and full transport loads to 7,500 gallons or more for large bulk tanks. Tell us your tank size and usage and we’ll recommend the right format.
How much is diesel tax in Missouri?
On-road (clear) diesel in Missouri carries $0.5419 per gallon in combined federal and state taxes and fees, and off-road (dyed) diesel $0.0053 per gallon, as of October 16, 2026. Sales and local taxes are extra where they apply. Using dyed diesel on public roads is illegal. See diesel taxes by state →
Do you offer emergency fuel delivery in St. Louis?
Yes. If a generator is running low or a site is about to run dry, call 800-720-4546 and a dispatcher will confirm what we can get to you and when.
Can you set up recurring scheduled deliveries?
Yes. Most customers start with a one-time delivery and move to a recurring schedule, so tanks, generators and fleets are topped up before they run low, without anyone having to call it in.
Do you rent fuel tanks?
Yes. We rent diesel and gasoline tanks from 119 to 17,000 gallons, with pumps, meters and hose fitted, and refills on a schedule. See our fuel tank rental page for sizes.
Do you have smaller trucks for tight sites?
Yes. Smaller delivery trucks reach tight urban sites, parking structures and jobsites where a full-size tanker can’t fit.
What payment options do you accept?
Credit cards, ACH and checks. Credit terms are available for qualifying commercial accounts. Ask your dispatcher for details.
