Milwaukee’s cold is the main fuel risk. On January 31, 2019, the city hit -23°F, breaking a record low that had stood since 1899. The day before, the high only reached -10°F. Untreated diesel gels long before that. Winter blend and anti-gel need to be in the tank before an arctic front arrives, not after the first truck won’t start.
Cold also catches standby generators. A tank that sits all winter needs treated fuel and a full level before the polar air shows up.
