Air cargo, five railroads and two river bridges in Memphis

Serving Shelby County

Memphis runs on overnight freight. Memphis International, home of the FedEx World Hub, was North America’s busiest cargo airport again in 2024, handling 3.75 million metric tons. Five Class I railroads also operate here: BNSF, Union Pacific, CSX, Norfolk Southern and Canadian National. Tractors and yard trucks at the warehouses and rail ramps between them run on diesel.

Two bridges, one river

Only two interstate bridges cross the Mississippi at Memphis: I-40 on the Hernando de Soto Bridge and I-55 on the Memphis & Arkansas Bridge. On May 11, 2021, inspectors found a crack in the I-40 bridge and closed it. Traffic detoured to I-55 until lanes reopened in early August. The Arkansas Trucking Association put the cost to trucking at more than $2.4 million a day.

Winter is the power risk. During Winter Storm Elliott in December 2022, TVA ordered rolling blackouts for the first time in its history, and MLGW cut power in rotation across Memphis on Dec. 23 and 24.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Memphis site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.

Memphis fuel delivery questions, answered

Do you fuel fleets and yard equipment around the Memphis airport?
Yes. Mobile fleet fueling (wet-hosing) fuels tractors, box trucks and yard equipment in your lot between shifts, with DEF on the same visit. Sites near the airport have their own gate and security rules, so give dispatch your entry requirements when you order.
What happens to Memphis freight when a Mississippi bridge closes?
Traffic piles onto the one that's left. When a crack closed the I-40 Hernando de Soto Bridge on May 11, 2021, traffic detoured to I-55 until lanes reopened in early August. Keeping fuel delivered on site takes your trucks out of that queue.
Should Memphis facilities plan for winter power cuts?
Yes. During Winter Storm Elliott in December 2022, TVA ordered rolling blackouts for the first time in its history, and MLGW customers lost power in rotation on Dec. 23 and 24. Keep standby generator tanks full before cold snaps.
Do you deliver fuel 24/7 in Memphis?
Yes. FuelGo dispatch runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call 800-720-4546 any time, or request a quote online and a dispatcher replies within the hour.
What fuels can you deliver in Memphis?
Clear on-road diesel (ULSD #2), red-dyed off-road diesel, gasoline, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and R99 renewable diesel. Most customers combine two or more on the same delivery.
Do you deliver diesel to generators in Memphis?
Yes. Dyed diesel for standby and prime generators, on a refill schedule or as an emergency run during an outage. Generator fueling →
Do you offer mobile fleet fueling in Memphis?

Can you deliver bulk diesel to our tanks in Memphis?

How much fuel can you deliver at once?
Tank wagon deliveries run from 20 to 4,400 gallons per drop, and full transport loads to 7,500 gallons or more for large bulk tanks. Tell us your tank size and usage and we’ll recommend the right format.
How much is diesel tax in Tennessee?
On-road (clear) diesel in Tennessee carries $0.5323 per gallon in combined federal and state taxes and fees, and off-road (dyed) diesel $0.0893 per gallon, as of October 16, 2026. Sales and local taxes are extra where they apply. Using dyed diesel on public roads is illegal. See diesel taxes by state →
Do you offer emergency fuel delivery in Memphis?
Yes. If a generator is running low or a site is about to run dry, call 800-720-4546 and a dispatcher will confirm what we can get to you and when.
Can you set up recurring scheduled deliveries?
Yes. Most customers start with a one-time delivery and move to a recurring schedule, so tanks, generators and fleets are topped up before they run low, without anyone having to call it in.
Do you rent fuel tanks?
Yes. We rent diesel and gasoline tanks from 119 to 17,000 gallons, with pumps, meters and hose fitted, and refills on a schedule. See our fuel tank rental page for sizes.
Do you have smaller trucks for tight sites?
Yes. Smaller delivery trucks reach tight urban sites, parking structures and jobsites where a full-size tanker can’t fit.
What payment options do you accept?
Credit cards, ACH and checks. Credit terms are available for qualifying commercial accounts. Ask your dispatcher for details.
