Kawasaki, the Havelock shops and a 2021 freeze in Lincoln

Serving Lancaster County

Lincoln builds vehicles you might not expect. Kawasaki’s plant here opened in 1974 and has grown to 3.4 million square feet on 335 acres. It builds ATVs, side-by-sides and personal watercraft, and since 2001 it has also assembled passenger rail cars. It passed 2,000 rail cars in 2017. Suppliers, freight carriers and plant equipment around a site that size need diesel and DEF on a schedule.

The railroad has been here even longer. BNSF’s Havelock Shops in Lincoln date to 1891 and are now the railroad’s primary freight car shop. The wheel shop there, opened in 1978, is the last of its kind among U.S. Class 1 railroads. It turns out 400 to 500 wheelsets a day. Shop equipment, yard trucks and contractors keep fuel moving into the yard.

February 2021

On February 15, 2021, with record cold over the Plains, the Southwest Power Pool declared its first Level 3 energy emergency. Lincoln Electric System had to start rotating outages that afternoon and again the next morning. Homes and businesses lost power for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. Any site on a generator needed diesel that would flow in that cold, and a tank that was already full.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Lincoln site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.

Lincoln fuel delivery questions, answered

Do you fuel rail and manufacturing yards in Lincoln?
Yes. We fuel yard equipment, trucks and plant generators on site, with dyed off-road diesel for equipment, clear on-road diesel for trucks and DEF for both, from 20 gallons per drop up to 4,400.
Can you keep our generator running if the grid goes into emergency again?
Yes. We schedule top-offs before winter and dispatch 24/7/365. In February 2021, LES had to cut power to blocks of Lincoln customers in rolling outages during record cold, so a full tank of winter-treated diesel matters.
Do you deliver fuel 24/7 in Lincoln?
Yes. FuelGo dispatch runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call 800-720-4546 any time, or request a quote online and a dispatcher replies within the hour.

How much is diesel tax in Nebraska?
On-road (clear) diesel in Nebraska carries $0.5723 per gallon in combined federal and state taxes and fees, and off-road (dyed) diesel $0.0078 per gallon, as of October 16, 2026. Sales and local taxes are extra where they apply. Using dyed diesel on public roads is illegal. See diesel taxes by state →

Do you rent fuel tanks?
Yes. We rent diesel and gasoline tanks from 119 to 17,000 gallons, with pumps, meters and hose fitted, and refills on a schedule. See our fuel tank rental page for sizes.
Do you have smaller trucks for tight sites?
