LTL freight, F-35 training and I-49 crews in Fort Smith

Serving Sebastian County

Fort Smith is a trucking town. ArcBest was founded here in 1966 and is still headquartered on McClure Drive. Its less-than-truckload carrier, ABF Freight, grew out of a Fort Smith company started in 1923. Terminals, yard tractors and the shops behind them make diesel and DEF a daily order here, not an occasional one.

Ebbing Air National Guard Base is taking on a new mission. In March 2023 the Air Force picked it as the training center for allied pilots flying F-16s and F-35s bought through Foreign Military Sales. The first phase has room for up to 36 fighters. Polish and Finnish pilots already train there, and the first German F-35 arrived on October 5, 2026. Contractors and support fleets around the base add steady demand.

The I-49 gap is closing

East of town, ARDOT is building the missing stretch of I-49 between Highway 22 in Barling and I-40 in Alma. The 14-mile segment includes a new bridge over the Arkansas River. The first of four contracts alone was $282.5 million. Grading and bridge crews burn dyed diesel all day, and the fuel needs to reach them at the work face.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Fort Smith site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
