A century of refining, blowover winds and -42°F in Casper

Serving Natrona County

Casper grew up on oil. Wyoming’s first refinery opened here in 1895, and by 1926 the city’s refineries could handle 58,500 barrels of crude a day. Today HF Sinclair’s Casper refinery runs about 30,000 barrels a day, mostly sweet crude from Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain region. Refinery contractors, oilfield service fleets and the equipment that supports them all burn diesel.

Banner Wyoming Medical Center is the state’s only verified Level II trauma center, and it treats injured patients who would otherwise face transport to distant hospitals. Its generators cannot be the thing that fails during a storm.

Wind and cold

Wind closes roads here. On December 19, 2021, Outer Drive between Mills and Evansville was closed to wind-prone vehicles for extreme blowover risk, with gusts of 60 mph or more forecast. Tankers and high-profile trucks plan around those closures.

Cold is the other one. On December 22, 2022, Casper Airport hit 42 below zero, the coldest reading there since records began in 1939. The old record, 41 below, had stood since 1990. Diesel without a proper winter blend gels long before that, and DEF freezes well above it too.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Casper site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
