Oil fields, farm freight and the Grapevine in Bakersfield

Serving Kern County

Kern County produces more than 70% of California’s oil, and Bakersfield sits in the middle of it. Rigs, pump trucks, vacuum trucks and field generators on the leases all run on diesel, often miles from the nearest fuel island.

Agriculture is just as big. Kern’s 2024 crop was worth $7.96 billion. Citrus took the top spot from grapes, with carrots, almonds and pistachios close behind. Those five crops made up more than 64% of the county’s value. Tractors, harvesters and the trucks hauling to packers burn fuel most of the year.

Bakersfield also makes renewable diesel. The Bakersfield Renewable Fuels facility became operational in January 2025 and produces about 250,000 gallons a day, with a design capacity of about 210 million gallons a year.

The Grapevine

I-5 over Tejon Pass, the Grapevine, connects Bakersfield to Los Angeles. In February 2023, snow closed it all day on February 24. It reopened for a few hours, then closed again the next morning, and didn’t fully reopen until 1:30 p.m. on February 26. When the Grapevine shuts, loads headed over it wait, and fleets need fuel on their side of the mountain.

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
