63 tankers at Fairchild, wildfire and the 2015 windstorm

Serving Spokane County

Spokane sits next to the Air Force’s biggest KC-135 base. Fairchild Air Force Base, about 12 miles southwest of the city, had 63 tankers assigned as of 2021. It is home to the active-duty 92nd and the Washington Air National Guard’s 141st Air Refueling Wings. More than 5,200 military and civilian employees work there. Contractors and support fleets on the West Plains run on diesel.

Wind and fire

Spokane’s record blackout was a windstorm. On November 17, 2015, gusts hit 71 mph at Spokane International Airport. Trees fell across power lines, and 180,000 homes went dark, the worst outage in Avista’s history. Ten days passed before the last customer had power again. Generators had to run through all of it.

Fire season adds a second risk. On August 18, 2023, the Gray fire started near Medical Lake, close to Fairchild. It destroyed 240 structures, and Medical Lake and Four Lakes were ordered to evacuate on the first day. The Oregon Road fire burned north of the city at the same time. Spokane had the worst air quality in the country for two days. Fuel for pumps and generators should be in the tank before red-flag days, not after the roads close.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Spokane site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.

Spokane fuel delivery questions, answered

Do you fuel contractors and fleets working around Fairchild AFB?
Yes. We fuel trucks and equipment where they park, with clear on-road diesel, dyed off-road diesel and DEF, from 20 to 4,400 gallons per drop. See our military and government page for base work.
How long should a Spokane generator be able to run in a windstorm?
Longer than you think. After the November 2015 windstorm, Avista needed until November 27 to restore its last customer, ten days after the storm. We schedule top-offs ahead of the season and run 24/7/365 dispatch.
Can you deliver fuel during fire season on the West Plains?
Yes, where roads are open and authorities allow access. Fill generator and equipment tanks before red-flag days, since evacuation orders can close roads quickly, as they did around Medical Lake in August 2023.
Do you deliver fuel 24/7 in Spokane?
Yes. FuelGo dispatch runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call 800-720-4546 any time, or request a quote online and a dispatcher replies within the hour.
What fuels can you deliver in Spokane?
Clear on-road diesel (ULSD #2), red-dyed off-road diesel, gasoline, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and R99 renewable diesel. Most customers combine two or more on the same delivery.
Do you deliver diesel to generators in Spokane?
Yes. Dyed diesel for standby and prime generators, on a refill schedule or as an emergency run during an outage. Generator fueling →
Do you offer mobile fleet fueling in Spokane?
Yes. We wet-hose trucks and equipment in your yard, usually overnight, and log every gallon by unit. Mobile fleet fueling →
Can you deliver bulk diesel to our tanks in Spokane?
Yes. Anything from 20 gallons to a 7,500-gallon transport load, into above-ground, underground or portable tanks. Bulk delivery →
How much fuel can you deliver at once?
Tank wagon deliveries run from 20 to 4,400 gallons per drop, and full transport loads to 7,500 gallons or more for large bulk tanks. Tell us your tank size and usage and we’ll recommend the right format.
How much is diesel tax in Washington?
On-road (clear) diesel in Washington carries $0.8785 per gallon in combined federal and state taxes and fees, and off-road (dyed) diesel $0.0405 per gallon, as of October 16, 2026. Sales and local taxes are extra where they apply. Using dyed diesel on public roads is illegal. See diesel taxes by state →
Do you offer emergency fuel delivery in Spokane?
Yes. If a generator is running low or a site is about to run dry, call 800-720-4546 and a dispatcher will confirm what we can get to you and when.
Can you set up recurring scheduled deliveries?
Yes. Most customers start with a one-time delivery and move to a recurring schedule, so tanks, generators and fleets are topped up before they run low, without anyone having to call it in.
Do you rent fuel tanks?
Yes. We rent diesel and gasoline tanks from 119 to 17,000 gallons, with pumps, meters and hose fitted, and refills on a schedule. See our fuel tank rental page for sizes.
Do you have smaller trucks for tight sites?
Yes. Smaller delivery trucks reach tight urban sites, parking structures and jobsites where a full-size tanker can’t fit.
What payment options do you accept?
Credit cards, ACH and checks. Credit terms are available for qualifying commercial accounts. Ask your dispatcher for details.
