Sawmills, the McKenzie fire and 2024 ice in Eugene

Serving Lane County

Eugene still cuts lumber. Seneca Sawmill was founded here in 1953, and Sierra Pacific Industries bought it in 2021. The Eugene mill on Highway 99, near the airport, employs about 350 people. Sierra Pacific is planning a $253 million modernization there, and the state has signed off on tax incentives for it. A mill that size runs log loaders, forklifts and a steady line of log and chip trucks. Every one of them burns diesel, and a modernization project adds contractor equipment on top.

Fire upstream, ice in town

On September 7, 2020, the Holiday Farm Fire started in the McKenzie River valley east of Eugene. It burned 173,393 acres, including 25 miles of river frontage. The McKenzie is Eugene’s sole source of drinking water, so a fire upstream is a city problem, not just a rural one.

In January 2024, two rounds of ice and then a thaw brought down lines across the EWEB system. About 38,000 customers, more than a third of EWEB’s total, lost power. Crews restored 97% of them within seven days. Some customers in wooded areas waited more than a week. Any generator in those areas had to run that whole stretch.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Eugene site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.
