Micron's new fabs, Gowen Field and fire season in Boise

Serving Ada County

Micron is building in Southeast Boise. Its first new fab, ID1, is a $15 billion investment, the largest single private capital investment in Idaho history. A second fab is already in ground preparation, part of a planned $50 billion buildout. First wafer output is targeted for 2027. Until then, the site runs on cranes, earthmovers, light towers and temporary generators, and all of them burn diesel.

Gowen Field, next to the Boise Airport, is home to the Idaho Air National Guard’s 124th Fighter Wing and its A-10s. Army Guard soldiers train there before heading to the 143,000-acre Orchard Combat Training Center, about 13 miles south. Tanks, trucks and field generators make that a diesel-heavy operation.

Fire season starts here

The National Interagency Fire Center sits on a 55-acre campus east of the Boise Airport. It coordinates wildland firefighting resources for the whole country. Fire season reaches the grid here too. In July 2024, Idaho Power cut power to about 9,100 customers in its first-ever wildfire safety shutoff, with the Boise Foothills and southern Ada County among the likeliest areas. Sites that can’t lose power should keep generator tanks full through late summer.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Boise site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.

Boise fuel delivery questions, answered

Do you fuel contractors on large Boise construction sites like the Micron fabs?
Yes. Cranes, excavators, light towers and site generators can be fueled on site with dyed off-road diesel, from 20 to 4,400 gallons per drop, and transport loads up to 7,500 gallons for bulk tanks. Give dispatch your gate and badge requirements when you order.
Do you deliver near the Boise Airport and Gowen Field?
Yes. We deliver to fleets, equipment and generators across the airport area. Military and government sites set their own access rules, so tell dispatch what's required at the gate.

Yes. FuelGo dispatch runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call 800-720-4546 any time, or request a quote online and a dispatcher replies within the hour.

Yes. We rent diesel and gasoline tanks from 119 to 17,000 gallons, with pumps, meters and hose fitted, and refills on a schedule. See our fuel tank rental page for sizes.
