Tunnel bans, a missing bridge and a record port in Baltimore

Serving Baltimore City

Baltimore’s fuel trucks can’t take the short way. Bulk gasoline, flammable liquids and other hazmat loads are banned from both harbor tunnels, the Fort McHenry on I-95 and the Baltimore Harbor on I-895. The Francis Scott Key Bridge was their crossing. Since it collapsed in March 2024, those loads take a 35-mile detour around the west side of I-695. Every delivery across the harbor costs time.

The bridge won’t be back soon. The Maryland Transportation Authority now projects the rebuild at $4.3 to $5.2 billion, open to traffic in late 2030. Work on the main span foundations is underway, and the marine and heavy equipment on that job will run on diesel for years.

The port kept growing

The Port of Baltimore set records in 2025 anyway. Seagirt Marine Terminal moved 1,113,309 TEUs. The port also handled more roll-on/roll-off farm and construction machinery than any other U.S. port. Drayage tractors, yard trucks and terminal equipment run on diesel.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Baltimore site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.

Baltimore fuel delivery questions, answered

How do fuel trucks cross the Baltimore harbor now?
The long way. Bulk gasoline, flammable liquids and other hazardous materials are banned from the Fort McHenry (I-95) and Baltimore Harbor (I-895) tunnels. With the Key Bridge down, fuel loads go around the western side of I-695, a detour of about 35 miles. Plan larger drops and more storage on site, especially on the side of the harbor away from your supply.
Do you fuel port and terminal equipment in Baltimore?
Yes. We deliver diesel and DEF to drayage fleets, yard equipment and site tanks serving the marine terminals. Terminal gates have their own credential and access rules, so give dispatch your gate, contact and any escort requirements when you order.
Can you supply fuel to Key Bridge rebuild contractors?
Talk to dispatch about the site, the equipment and the schedule. Job sites usually need off-road diesel for equipment and a tank rental for storage.
Do you deliver fuel 24/7 in Baltimore?
Yes. FuelGo dispatch runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call 800-720-4546 any time, or request a quote online and a dispatcher replies within the hour.
What fuels can you deliver in Baltimore?
Clear on-road diesel (ULSD #2), red-dyed off-road diesel, gasoline, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and R99 renewable diesel. Most customers combine two or more on the same delivery.
Do you deliver diesel to generators in Baltimore?
Yes. Dyed diesel for standby and prime generators, on a refill schedule or as an emergency run during an outage. Generator fueling →
Do you offer mobile fleet fueling in Baltimore?
Yes. We wet-hose trucks and equipment in your yard, usually overnight, and log every gallon by unit. Mobile fleet fueling →
Can you deliver bulk diesel to our tanks in Baltimore?
Yes. Anything from 20 gallons to a 7,500-gallon transport load, into above-ground, underground or portable tanks. Bulk delivery →
How much fuel can you deliver at once?
Tank wagon deliveries run from 20 to 4,400 gallons per drop, and full transport loads to 7,500 gallons or more for large bulk tanks. Tell us your tank size and usage and we’ll recommend the right format.
How much is diesel tax in Maryland?
On-road (clear) diesel in Maryland carries $0.7249 per gallon in combined federal and state taxes and fees, and off-road (dyed) diesel $0.0665 per gallon, as of October 16, 2026. Sales and local taxes are extra where they apply. Using dyed diesel on public roads is illegal. See diesel taxes by state →
Do you offer emergency fuel delivery in Baltimore?
Yes. If a generator is running low or a site is about to run dry, call 800-720-4546 and a dispatcher will confirm what we can get to you and when.
Can you set up recurring scheduled deliveries?
Yes. Most customers start with a one-time delivery and move to a recurring schedule, so tanks, generators and fleets are topped up before they run low, without anyone having to call it in.
Do you rent fuel tanks?
Yes. We rent diesel and gasoline tanks from 119 to 17,000 gallons, with pumps, meters and hose fitted, and refills on a schedule. See our fuel tank rental page for sizes.
Do you have smaller trucks for tight sites?
Yes. Smaller delivery trucks reach tight urban sites, parking structures and jobsites where a full-size tanker can’t fit.
What payment options do you accept?
Credit cards, ACH and checks. Credit terms are available for qualifying commercial accounts. Ask your dispatcher for details.
