Kirtland, the Big I and a studio boom in Albuquerque

Serving Bernalillo County

Albuquerque’s largest federal footprint is Kirtland Air Force Base. Sandia National Laboratories is headquartered there, with a second campus in Livermore, California. Base operations, lab contractors and construction crews keep fleets and equipment working on and around the base.

A studio town now

Film is the newer fuel load. Netflix has grown its Mesa del Sol campus from 28 acres to 108, and its 2024 expansion added four purpose-built soundstages to the eight already there. Since 2019, Netflix says it has spent nearly $575 million on New Mexico productions.

Productions run generators for lighting, base camps and trailers, on the lot and on location. They work long days on tight schedules, and a generator that runs dry stops the whole crew.

Everything else crosses at the Big I, where I-25 meets I-40. Before the pandemic it averaged more than 400,000 vehicles a day, the busiest interchange in New Mexico. It was rebuilt between 2000 and 2002 at a cost of $293 million. Fleets that fuel in their own yards stay out of the fuel line and the interchange at rush hour.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Albuquerque site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.
